We are embarking on a month long journey that will take us from up state NY into Canada. We have outfitted a new Jeep Gladiator that will be our home for the next 30 days. Complete with iKamper roof top tent, Bear proof cargo and food boxes, spare gas, propane, shower, bathroom, satellite communications, cell booster and Garmin GPS.
We are traveling by the seat of our pants with nothing planned accept a private helicopter charter and a basic idea of where we want to go. We will drive through the Canadian territories of Ottawa, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and the Yukon Territory where we will meet the US border into Alaska!
Once in Alaska we will head south to Homer on the Kanai Peninsula. Once there, we have booked (far in advance!) a private helicopter charter that will take us to hike on a glacier, walk amongst the Grizzly Bears and explore an active volcano. Joe,.. are you there?
After our time in Homer, we will head north and explore the towns of Seward, Whittier, Talkaneta and Denali. After a couple of days in Denali, we will spend two days heading east on the 135 mile long scenic Denali Highway.
The Alaska section of our trip will then come to a close as we head north to the Top of The World Highway back into Canada. We will then explore Dawson City before heading back to the Yukon Territory.
We will change up the trip home through Canada but plan to visit Jasper, the Ice Fields Parkway, and Banff before heading back across the rest of Canada to NY State.
